Life at the Camp, so Far

I have been at the camp for a couple weeks now, and i am starting to get used to it, sort of. The people i knew that lived there were, me of course, mama, hortensia alfonso and miguel, our friends and used to be servants, juan, josephina, isabel, and the twins, pepe and lupe, who are alfonso's cousins, marta, who is mean to me, and marina, eliene, and eliene's baby. I am having fun at the jamaca's every saturday night, and i have just learned that isabel is running for The Queen of May, and i hope she gets picked, she says that a mexican has never been picked though, so i do not think her chances are very high.

The Camp

We just arrived at a camp for immigrants. We do not have private bathrooms, and the cabins are so small. We have to work very hard to learn little money. Some people are thinking about striking for more money and other things. I do not think I will join them, but I do think it is unfair that we do not get hot water or large cabins like the people from Oklahoma.

Catching You Up

I moved from El Ranco De Las Rosas, Auguascalientes, Mexico, to California. i am on the train right now, and it is dirty, and the people do not look trustworthy. It is hard, because I wanted to stay in Mexico, but Papa died, then Tio Luis set our house on fire because Mama wouldn't marry him. When he asked her, i was so surprised, and so glad she said no to his proposal. So that is what has happened in the last week, look for another post very soon!
